What is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a skin condition that shows up in reddened skin with silverwhite patches called scales. Usually it’s seen on the elbows, knees, and chest, but it can be anywhere on your body. It can even go so far as to cover the entire body.

It’s often treated with creams and moisturizers. It comes and goes. Ten percent of the people who have psoriasis also have pain in their joints, and this is referred to as psoriatic arthritis. While there are medications for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, one of the things that people are now trying is natural healing methods for psoriasis.

Among the things that people try when they go for the natural cure is they eat foods that are high in Vitamin E, which is noted for being very good in helping the skin heal. Bathing in oatmeal and Epsom salts is also a good way to help your skin heal. At the very least it keeps your skin from being too itchy and irritated. If you do try bathing in oatmeal and Epsom salts, mix them together and soak in a warm bath for about 20 minutes.

What causes psoriasis is a problem with the immune system, and basically, the body is trying to reject its skin cells. One of the natural cures for the psoriatic arthritis is eating a lot of fruit. However, some experts suggest that if you have psoriatic arthritis, that you avoid tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and eggplants. Other foods that you should avoid are meat, food containing white flower, white sugar, and you should also cut back on alcohol.
